Research and Planning: Indie pop collage
In this image you can see there some artists such as arctic monkeys, lorde and milky chance which i think would fall into the category of Indie-pop. There are also some magazine covers which could relate to my music magazine. The reason I have chosen these images are because of the clothing used by the models, This kind of clothing is what i wish to use in my cover as it is very simple, t-shirt and jeans and the indie clothing is such but is a very unique style hence being indie. The magazines are there as the colour schemes are very effective as they use light colours. The fonts which are used are sharp and bold plus usual embedded on an image so usually white which I plan to do for my magazine.

Research and Planning: Music magazine analyse
This magazine is effective as there is very bold and stand out masthead with the title of 'BRINK'.
The masthead will catch the eye of the audience as with the green back ground the white text stands out as the two colours are very contrasting and with the sharpness of the font it adds to crisp nature of the genre indie-pop. The model, Ed Sheeran takes up a large proportion of the cover as he is a famous a acclaimed singer so he will bring his fans to read the magazine, thus raising the popularity of the magazine. Again Ed Sheeran's name is the biggest cover line surrporting my last point. The magazine sticks with the three colour rule as there is white, green and orange, the orange in the cover lines also links with the colour of the models hair as he is ginger, this also helps as with the indie theme indie people don't really use loads of bright flashy colours just a couple as done in the magazine. The shot type used is the medium long shot as you can see most of his body but is sat crossed legged so can't be long shot, this is a good shot as the artist is the main story to having him all over the cover is a good idea as many people will read it just for him.

Research and Planning: Evaluation of College Magazine
The college magazine that which I created is suitable for the target audience of Hyde Clarendon students and teachers. The piece was appropriate for the task to create a magazine for the college.
The masthead which was used I think was suitable font size and font as you can understand it and it will stand out on the background it has been placed on.
The font size that i used on the cover lines I think is okay but may be a little small for some, whereas the big 99% is very large and will catch the audience's attention.
The way which you can tell that the contents page and the cover page are from the same magazine is that at the top of the page we have the same model and backset as the image on the cover.
I think that the photos were well taken as it took many attempts to get the correct one which I liked and was the correct photo shot. The cover lines I think could be improved as I think the right hand side of the cover page is a little empty and I should insert a story there. The cover lines are all appropriate as they all relate to the college and subjects which swell relate to the college. I think that the way that which I used the technology available was good but the only thing which troubled me is the iMac as I have never used one before but I have learnt must of the the basic features.
In the cover page i failed to used the three colour rule I know that i need to used this in the music magazine. The contents page font doesn't match the font on the cover so it doesn't really relate to the same style.

Research and Development: College Magazine contents page mock up
In this screenshot you can see my mock up of a contents page. i have used a image at the top as it is still reminds you about the college genre. In a real contents page i would put actual images and text instead of 'example text'. I completed this task on indesign as it is far easier as you get guide lines and margins set for you.
This is the contents page without the guidelines and text boxes.
Research and development: College Magazine Final Product
In this Image you can see my Finished product. Firstly i got rid of his blemishes and whitened his teeth to make his smile more defined and noticeable I then moved onto adding the cover lines and overlay them onto the image. Then I thought adding the website to the bottom of the page so there is a link to that if needed. I added a inner shadow and a outer shadow so that the text would show up on the lighter backgrounds.

Research and Planning: Photos for college magazine(UNSUITABLE)
These are the first pictures I took for the college magazine but chose not to use them as he was either not smiling or the camera wasn't in focus so I used a second model.
Research and Planning: College magazine Draft 2
This is my new idea for the college magazine. I have chosen to use this as i gives more of a college feel as it has the college behind him and is holding books.

Research and Planning: Costumes and Prop list
Costumes and props list
Costume:
·
T-Shirt
·
Hoodie
The rest of the models clothing will not matter as there will only be 1 type of shot, a medium
close up.
Props:
·
Books
·
Hyde newsletter
The reason I would want the model to be carrying books would
be to give the reader the impression of a educational magazine. The news would
be on the outside of the books and this is just to show the college logo in the
picture.
This is just an example of what the model could wear in my magazine but without the hat.

Research and Planning: Video Recording Answers
In these recordings me and my group asked four students from our college a series of questions to get some information on how they would like to see there college magazine. Mainly the students wanted dark colours so these will influence my piece.
Research and Planning: Audience Questions
1. What is the first thing you look for when picking up a magazine?
2. What cover lines/stories would you like to see in a college magazine?
3. What colours would associate with Hyde Clarendon?
4. For hyde what name would you use for the Masthead?
5. What kind of price would you put on a college magazine?

Research and Planning: Medium Close-up Examples
These are four examples of 'medium close ups'. I know that i will need to include one like these in my design.
Research and Planning:College Magazine Analysis
This image is of a college magazine which I will be analysing.
On this front cover the masthead is 'college life' which instantly shows that this is a magazine aimed at students.
The publication line of this piece is 'The best source for all things about…' this then leads into the mast head. The publication gives the reader the impact that this is thee magazine to read if you are at college.
The image used is a medium close of a girl which looks to be in college. The girl adds to the effect that college is a happy place as she is carrying books and smiling.
The cover lines used in the magazine are technology and money based which would appeal to the young audience as many young people use lots of tech and would like to have advice on how to save money.
In the masthead the author has used two fonts to appeal to a younger audience, the first font is as a bold and large text and the second is a small and flowing text.

Research and Planning: college magazine analysis
In this image we see a college magazine, the author has used two different fonts on the masthead. The reason the author has done this is because to a younger audience this will catch the eye of these readers as many like pieces with a very aesthetic feel.
The colour pallet is yellow, white and black, i would say these colours are a good choice as the model is wearing black and white so the image fits in with the text.
The cover lines are of stories inside the college i will be using as it makes the audience feel that they can influence this magazine.
The image the author has used is a medium close, this is good as you get a real sense of that he is a college student as he is carrying books.

Research and Planning: Indesign Tutorial
In this Picture i have Learnt to use Adobe Indesign to create a film review. None of the text is mine. i have learnt that you should not save as you should export, i also learnt that the software doesn't work in layers so you have to create a box of colour so to speak and send it to the back so that you can see the text and images.

Research and Planning:photoshop cd tutorial
In this image i learned how to create a cd front cover. The tools i used were the Magic wand tool,to select the horn and place it on the cover. I also used a wave filter on the music notes in the background to make the post more interesting. Finally i used the move tool to move objects from one page to another and change the rotation.
Research and planning:photoshop skin tutorial
In editing this picture i have learnt that you can remove blemishes and spot with the spot healing brush tool. Then using the brush tool i coloured in the cheeks, eyes and lips but changed the opacity to make it look a little more realistic. I then selected all of the hair with the lasso tool and used the paint bucket to change the colour of her hair, again changing the opacity.
